The City of Casa Grande’s Finance Department is the proud recipient of the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for the 19th year. In order to receive this award, a governmental entity must meet several nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation.
The GFOA presented the award to the city’s Finance Department for its annual budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2016. This award represents a significant achievement by the city, as it reflects a commitment to the highest principles of governmental budgeting.
In order to receive this award, a governmental entity must publish a document that assesses how well its budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide, and a communications device.
Budget documents must be rated “proficient” in all four categories, and the fourteen mandatory criteria within those categories, to receive the award.
Mayor Craig McFarland will recognize this achievement at the City Council meeting on Monday, July 17 at 7:00 pm where he will present the award to staff.
