2. Are public records free?

There is no charge to review public records at the municipal facility where they are stored. However, there is a fee for photocopies, audio CDs, videos, photos, and other items. Visit the City's Fee Schedule.

Payment is due when the items are received. The City of Casa Grande accepts payments in form of cash, check, money order, debit, and credit cards (Visa/MasterCard only).

3. How long will it take to receive a response concerning public records?

As a rule, the City of Casa Grande responds to all requests for information as quickly as possible. However, it may not always be possible to fill requests for public records right away because records need to be reviewed first to see if they contain confidential information. Despite this, the City of Casa Grande strives to respond to public records requests within 5 working days. However, if the request is very large in scope, spans multiple departments or requires additional preparation or review, it may require more time to process. If so, it will take more than 5 days.

4. Are all records public records?

Although most information the City of Casa Grande maintains is public and therefore subject to disclosure, some information is considered to be confidential. As custodians of confidential information, the City of Casa Grande is obligated to protect such things as:

• Social security numbers
• Dates of birth
• The identity of undercover police officers
• Medical records

Additional information may be considered confidential and protected from disclosure depending upon the specific information requested and the circumstances surrounding the request.

5. What is the purpose of a Public Records Request Form?

A Public Records Request Form aids the employee and the requestor by clarifying precisely what information is being requested, as well as documenting what the requestor inspected or received from the City in return.

6. How do I request a public record?

8. Where can I find the paperwork to run for Mayor or Councilmember?

Candidates seeking election for municipal office will file nomination petitions with the City Clerk's Office. The nonpartisan candidate petition is provided here. It is your responsibility to verify the correct form utilized in the jurisdiction in which you are seeking a nomination. Additional relevant forms for campaign committees can be found on the City Elections page. All other questions about running for local office should be directed toward the City Clerk's Office at 520-421-8600.

9. Where can I go to make a public records request?

The Casa Grande City Clerk can provide information concerning the City's public records program, and formal requests for public records should be directed to the City Clerk. Request for inspection or copies of public records shall be made by filling out a City of Casa Grande Request for Public Records online.

10. What are the requirements to run for local political office?

The Mayor and Councilmembers shall be qualified electors of the city and shall hold no other public office for which they receive compensation except that of a notary public or member of the National Guard or naval or military reserve. Candidates must have resided in the city for three years next preceding the date of such election or appointment. If the Mayor or a Councilmember shall cease to possess any of these qualifications or shall be convicted of a crime involving moral turpitude, that office shall immediately become vacant.

City employees are not eligible to stand for election or serve as Mayor or as members of the City Council.

Candidates for Mayor must be 25 years of age or older, and candidates for Councilmember must be 21 years of age or older.
