What’s Happening at the Library? Programs, Events & Closures This Week

The Casa Grande Public Library shares its weekly newsletter, which includes updates on closures, events, programs, and services.

  • Library Closure: Both library locations are closed on Monday, January 19, for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Regular hours resume January 20.

  • Featured Program: Talking Code with a Secret Weapon – Navajo Code Talkers Speak at the Main Library on Friday, January 23, 1:30–3:00 p.m. This special presentation is part of the Arizona America250 Grant series exploring Arizona’s rich history.

  • Ongoing & Upcoming Activities:
    Winter Storywalk at Peart Park featuring Winter Is Here by Kevin Henkes.
    • Spanish Conversation Gathering every Thursday at the Vista Grande Library.
    • Beginning iPad/iPhone class on Thursday, January 22, 2:30–4:30 p.m.
    • Teens & Tweens Uno Tournament on Friday, January 23 at Vista Grande.
    Under the Sea movie & coloring event on Saturday, January 24 at the Main Library.

  • Book Clubs:
    The Literati meets February 2 to discuss Book and Dagger.
    Lunch Bunch Book Group meets February 10 to discuss The Woman’s Hour.

  • Community Resources:
    • Check the Bookmobile schedule online.
    • Bi-monthly gardening classes at Vista Grande with Master Gardeners.
    • Ongoing reading challenges like AZ Read 250 and 1000 Books Before Kindergarten.
    • Mayor’s Reading Club volunteer opportunity.
    • Free access to Universal Class online courses.
    One-on-one Tutor Tech Time for technology help and GED support program details.

  • Facilities & Services: Both locations offer reservable study rooms.
