[ARCHIVED] Weekly Highlights at the Library (Nov. 17-22)


  • Tuesday, November 18, 10:00 a.m. - Thanksgiving-themed puppet show and craft activity for kids and families at the Main Library.

  • Thursday, November 20, 2:30–4:30 p.m. - Dive into a hands-on session at the Main Library (449 N. Drylake St.) exploring popular apps on smart devices; registration not required.

  • Friday, November 21, 10 a.m.–2 p.m. - A blood drive at the Vista Grande Library (1556 N. Arizola Rd.)—walk-in friendly, or you can reserve your time.

  • Saturday, November 22, starting at 2:00 p.m. - Family Movie & Coloring Activity at the Main Library: children under 12 must attend with an adult; light snacks and drinks with screw-top lids are welcome.

  • Ongoing programs for this week:

    • Board-game sessions for grades 6-12 every Thursday at 4:00 p.m. at the Main Library.

    • Crochet & Knitting Club for ages 12+ (bring your supplies; some yarn available) Fridays 3:30-5:00 p.m. at the Vista Grande Library.

    • Spanish Conversation Gathering Thursdays 12:30-1:00 p.m., and ESL classes Tuesdays & Thursdays 10:30 a.m.–12:00 p.m. at the Vista Grande Library.

  • Library services featured:

    • Reading challenges: “25 in 2025” (all ages) and “1000 Books Before Kindergarten” (ages 0-5).

    • Free access to hundreds of online courses through Universal Class with your library card.

    • One-on-one “Tutor Tech Time” sessions for device help and tech learning (18+).

    • Volunteer opportunities: join the Mayor’s Reading Club (reading to grades K–3) or assist the Central Lutheran Church ACE Team with ESL tutoring.

    • Study room reservations, Act One Culture Passes for households, and donation drop-offs for the Friends group.
