Meeting Minutes
A. Call to Order
a. The April 13, 2013 meeting is called to order at 10:29 a.m.
b. The Pledge of Allegiance is led by Jacob.
B. Roll Call
a. Delilah, Eddie, Audrey, Megan, Chisom, and Jocelyn are absent.
C. Minutes
a. Kimberly moves to approve the regular meeting minutes of March 9, 2013,
The motion passes.
D. Reports
D.1 Treasurer’s Report/Payment of Claims
i. There is $617.05 remaining in the general fund and $6,276.54 in the special projects fund.
ii. Kimberly moves to approve the treasurer’s report. The motion passes.
D.2 Review reports from:
i. Garden of Sunshine Committee
1. There will be 25 suns made. The probationers are maintaining the garden until the official opening; they can also work on it over the summer. Different options for benches are being discussed.
ii. Pinal County Leadership Training
1. The training will be on Saturday, April 27 in downtown Casa Grande from 8:00-3:00 p.m. Commissioners need to RSVP by April 19 and bring money for lunch.
iii. Chili Cook Off Debriefing
1. Having a golf cart at the booth was beneficial. The Commission received a check for $300.
iv. Relay for Life Debriefing
1. Almost all of the Commissioners attended this year, which was great.
v. Day of Shredding Update
1. Day of Shredding will be Saturday from 9:00-12:00. Commissioners should be there at 7:45 to help set up.
E. Unfinished Business:
E.1 Leadership Lesson
i. Brooklyn and Kris presented a leadership lesson on Chapter 19, called Having My Voice Heard.
F. New Business
F.1 Membership Nominations for 2013/2014
i. Everyone who applied was accepted. The following names will be sent to the mayor and council for approval: Kris Mejia, Delilah Cassidy, Megan McWherter, Jacob Toussaint, Zoe Cooper, Jocelyn Pinon, Kyle Johnson, Brooklyn Johnson, Chisom Okuagu, Brittany Williams, Arriana Jones, Sergio Barrera, Kelcy Johnson, Nadia Rivas.
F.2 Election of Officers – May
i. Commissioners should let Donna know if they are interested in running for office. Elections will be held at the May meeting.
F.3 Global Youth Service Day
i. The Commission will register some of their events with Global Youth Service Day. More information was passed out.
F.4 Volunteer Opportunities – Paramount Theater
i. Mr. Rhodes will remain in contact about volunteering at the Paramount Theater.
G. Miscellaneous
G.1 Announcements or Reminders
i. The May meeting will be held on May 4.
ii. Jacob and Arthur will present their leadership lesson at the May meeting.
