 Special Operations Division

 

The Special Operations Division was formed July 2006 and is now the 4th division of the police department. Cmdr. Scott Sjerven is the Commander of this division. Special Operations encompasses several areas of the police departments operation to include; Volunteer Services, Animal Control, School Resource Officers, Crime Prevention, Graffiti, alarms, community traffic unit, Crime Free Muilt-Housing, Neighborhood Watch and Special Weapons and Tactics (S.W.A.T.)

 

Volunteer Services consist of a Volunteer Coordinator who manages several volunteer programs such as Citizens on Patrol, Senior Phone Patrol, Victim Services, and General Station Volunteers. Our Volunteer Program also hosts several Citizen Police Academies throughout the year and coordinates the annual Silent Witness Anti-Crime Night.

Our two School Resource Officers are assigned to the high schools and the middle Schools. These assignments are full time positions and they are on various campuses during the entire school year. Our School Resource Officer’s primary function is on campus law enforcement.

Casa Grande Police Department, in partnership with the citizens of our community, promotes crime prevention efforts through several active programs to include neighborhood watch and crime free multi-housing program. It is our goal to provide the public with the tools they need to safeguard their homes, property and persons from criminal activity. Animal Control was added to the police department in July 2005. Our animal control division consists of one animal control supervisor, two animal control officers, and one kennel assistant. Our new facility located at 202 E. 1st Ave currently is fully operation with more runs and more space.

The Department’s Alarm programs are managed by a full time coordinator, Sheila Chavez. Our coordinator also tracks and maintains our alarm response within the city and makes notifications of homeowners and businesses that have multiple false alarm calls.

The Graffiti program makes owner notifications of graffiti and organizes and manages cleanup of these sites utilizing people on probation for the actual clean up details. Our grafitti abatement program coordinator, Sheila Chavez, can be reached at 520-421-8711 ext. 6570
