Employment Information See all City of Casa Grande open jobs Prior to appointment or attending an academy, a person will meet the following minimum qualifications: *A United States citizen. *At least twenty-one years of age. A person may attend an academy if they will be twenty-one prior to graduating. *A high school graduate or have successfully completed a General Education Development (G.E.D.) examination. *A complete background investigation that meets the Arizona Peace Officers Standards and Training Board (POST) guidelines. An applicant may begin an academy prior to the return of the results of a national fingerprint check. The background investigation must show the person meets minimum qualifications, and has not engaged in conduct or a pattern of conduct that would jeopardize public trust in the law enforcement profession. *A medical examination that meets POST standards. *An emotional stability and psychological fitness examination that meets POST standards. *No felony convictions, or convictions for any offense that would be a felony if committed in Arizona, or have engaged in conduct that would jeopardize public trust in the law enforcement profession, and is of good moral character. *No felony or misdemeanor domestic violence convictions resulting in a prohibited possessor designation. *No dishonorable discharge from the United States Armed Services. *Not previously denied certified Peace Officer status, or have had certified status suspended or revoked. *Not used, sold, transported for sale, cultivated, or produced marijuana within the past three years, or at any time after attaining the age of twenty-one, or used marijuana other than for experimentation. Experimentation with marijuana is defined as ten uses or less. Only in cases involving extra-ordinary circumstances may this requirment be deviated from, and then only with the express approval of the Office of the Chief of Police. *Not unlawfully used, sold, transported for sale, or produced any dangerous drugs or illegal narcotics within the past seven years, or at any time after attaining the age of twenty-one, or used illegal narcotics or dangerous drugs other than for experimentation. Experimentation with dangerous drugs or illegal narcotics is defined as one use. Only in cases involving extra-ordinary circumstances may this requirement be deviated from, and then only with the express approval of the Office of the Chief of Police. *No pattern of prescription medication abuse. *Successfully undergone and passed a board approved drug screening test and polygraph examination. *Not convicted of or adjudged to have violated traffic regulations governing the movement of vehicles with such a frequency to indicate a disrespect for traffic laws and a disregard for the safety of other persons on the highway within the past three years. *Read the Peace Officers Code of Ethics and affirmed by signature their understanding and agreement to abide by the code. *Read and signed a physical fitness contract requiring minimum standards during each physical testing process are met. The fitness test is based on the Cooper Standards. The City of Casa Grande is a growing community of nearly 40,000 residentslocated half-way between the Phoenix and Tucson metropolitan areas.
