General Plan Overview General Plan Overview

Updates to the City’s General Plan normally occur every ten (10) years unless the City experiences rapid growth, then an update is needed before the 10th year.  The General Plan is a document that serves as a guide for the City on how land should be developed in the future. Land uses are designated within the General Plan for the City of Casa Grande’s future growth. This service area in the Planning and Development Department provides staffing and technical support during the City’s effort to update the General Plan.

The City of Casa Grande has engaged its planning staff and appointed planning consultant (EDAW) to create a Project Team to update the General Plan. Over the next 15 months The Project Team will be working closely with our citizens to bring forward the updated General Plan 2020.
The General Plan Update will set out goals and policies for the future. It will also include a land use map showing where residential, commercial and industrial development should be located and where open space should be conserved.
This update comes at a critical time in the history of Casa Grande. The City has seen significant change since the last General Plan 2010 was adopted in 2001. City limits have expanded and new development has come forward at a rapid pace. These changes raise pertinent questions about how the City of Casa Grande can and should accommodate the cycle of change over the next 10, 20 and even 30 years.
