City Court FAQ When is my court date? The initial court date and time that you must appear is written on the bottom of the citation. Your next court date can be obtained by contacting the Casa Grande City Court at (520) 421-8675 What if I cannot appear on my court date? If you have been cited for a civil traffic offense you can pay your fine prior to your court date. If you have been given a criminal ticket, you may file a request for an extension by completing a Motion to Continue. A Motion to Continue must be filed in person or by mail and the Court must receive the completed motion prior to the court date. A Motion to Continue will not be granted automatically. If good cause cannot be shown, the Motion to Continue will not be granted and you will have to appear on your original court date. When can I see a Judge? Judges are available Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. If you have been cited with a civil violation it is not necessary to see a Judge. The Casa Grande City Court is staffed with Civil Traffic Hearing Officers who resolve all Civil Traffic matters that are filed in the Court. Civil Traffic Hearing Officers are available during regular court hours. It is not always necessary to see a Judge. Casa Grande City Court Representatives can answer many questions, but they are not allowed to give legal advice, only general information as it relates to the case. What should I do if a warrant has been issued for my arrest? You must appear before a Judge, at which time you may be required to pay a bail/bond before the warrant can be quashed. Warrants can be quashed Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Do I have to report a change of address? Yes. If you have any pending cases with the Casa Grande City Court, it is your responsibility to keep your address current. If you fail to provide the Court with the appropriate contact information, you may not receive proper notification regarding your case. This could result in a warrant being issued for your arrest, or a default judgment being entered against you. What is the difference between the Casa Grande City Court and the Casa Grande Justice Court? There are two different courts in Casa Grande. The address of the Court in which you are to appear, is written at the bottom of your citation. The Casa Grande City Court is located at 510 E. Florence Blvd., Casa Grande, AZ 85122, and handles cases ranging from minor traffic violations to Class I, II and III misdemeanors, as well as Orders of Protection and Injunctions Against Harassment and City Code Violations. The Casa Grande Justice Court is located at 820 E. Cottonwood Lane Building B, Casa Grande AZ 85122, and handles civil and contract disputes, small claims court, landlord/tenant matters, Orders of Protection and Injunctions Against Harassment, both felony and misdemeanor criminal charges as well as civil traffic charges. Can you tell me if my Driver's License has been suspended? If you want to know about your MVD record, you must contact with Arizona Department of Motor Vehicles at (520) 836-8551. If I have to pay a fine, when do I need to pay it? All fines/penalties are due on the date they are imposed. If you are unable to pay in full, you may request a payment contract. If you are granted a payment contact, a one-time fee of $20 will be added to your total fine pursuant to A.R.S. 12-116. What if I don't know my citation or docket number? If you do not know your citation or docket number, you can find information about your case at the Arizona Supreme Court Public Access web site: www.supreme.state.az.us What happens if I do not pay? If you do not pay your financial obligation to the Court the following may occur: Notification may be sent to MVD to place a suspension on your driving privileges (If you are not licensed in Arizona, it may extend to the state in which you are licensed). A warrant may be issued for your arrest Can I pay my fines online? No. The Court is not accepting payments online at this time. Court staff will accept credit card payments via telephone if the payment is for $100 or more. The Court is currently accepting Visa and MasterCard. How does the appeal process work? An appeal is a legal process in which a higher court (Pinal County Superior Court) reviews the decision of a lower court (Casa Grande City Court) based on the audio record of your hearing. An appeal is not a retrial of your case, and you cannot present new evidence or testimony. You are responsible for all appeal charges/fees. You may appeal civil traffic findings, criminal rulings and civil orders.

Parking is available on the East side of the facility off of Morrison Ave. Can you help me get child support? Casa Grande City Court does not have jurisdiction over the enforcement of child support payments. Victim Services are available through the City Prosecutor's Office, (520) 421-8600 or view the list of services online. How should I dress for court? Casual business attire is appropriate for most court appearances. Tank tops or shorts are not appropriate for courtroom proceedings. Clothing with visible offensive wording is not permitted. |
