Tips for completing the City of Casa Grande employment application.

1. Be complete!
It’s always best to fill in all of the blanks on the application form. If a question doesn’t apply, it’s best to write in “N/A” for “not applicable”. Feel free to attach a resume, but you still need to completely fill out the application. Include your complete mailing address, and be sure to sign and date the application.

2. Provide supplemental information as appropriate If there are items that need additional explanation, feel free to provide that explanation even if you have to attach a separate sheet of paper (if completing an on-line application, see #5 below). It is completely up to you, but it is generally in your best interest to explain gaps in work history, frequent job changes and those types of items. It’s not uncommon for us to receive many applications in response to a recruitment and therefore we can’t/don’t interview every applicant. Applications are screened and individuals are selected for interviews based on the written information provided. So generally what we know about
you is what you tell us on the application.

3. Be accurate and truthful.
Don’t embellish your education or experience. If you didn’t graduate from college, don’t say you did. Leaving out employment history also constitutes falsification of the application so be accurate. By signing (or electronically signing) the application form, you are certifying that all information provided on the application and supplemental materials is true and complete.

4. Be accurate and truthful especially on criminal background information!
This question is often misunderstood. All convictions, regardless of date of occurrence, for any law or ordinance violation, must be reported. This includes things such as DUI, shoplifting, reckless driving,
and so on, and includes convictions that have been set aside or pardoned. Parking tickets, speeding tickets and such do not have to be listed. We do criminal background checks on all new employees so convictions will come to light. Convictions will not necessarily disqualify an applicant from employment.
The recency, severity and pertinence of the conviction to the job will be considered. A long, detailed explanation is not required on the application, nor are apologies.

5. If filing an on-line application.
Please be aware of the space/character limitations in some of the fields. This will require you to e-mail, fax or mail attachments for supplemental information that you are not currently able to include on the online application form.
