Independent Film: Her Name is Sabine
Thursday June 12 at 5:30pm

An intelligent, moving and beautiful portrait of Sabine, a 38-year-old autistic woman, filmed by her sister, the famous French actress Sandrine Bonnaire. Through personal footage filmed over a period of 25 years, it is revealed that Sabine's growth and many talents were crushed by improper diagnosis and an inadequate care structure. After a tragic five-year stay in a psychiatric hospital, Sabine finally finds a new lease on life in a home together with other young people living with similar mental and emotional illnesses. This very intimate film also sends an urgent message to a society that still does not know how to properly take care of its citizens with physical and psychological disabilities.

Philosophical Musings of a Suburban Dwelling Free Spirit Ex-Hippi Wannabe with Longings for Connection and Security
Thursday June 19th at 5:30pm

Annie Moscow is a contemporary poet and modern-day songwriter who brings a fresh perspective to subject matter not often sung about. With an explosive piano style and the voice of an angel, her very visual songs take you right into the picture.

Originally from New York, then Philadelphia, Los Angeles and now, Arizona, she began her music career as a classical pianist, and then as a songwriter, writing for film, television and other recording artists, including SARAH VAUGHN, SISTER SLEDGE and MICKEY MOUSE.

In 1992, she wrote the lyrics to Kathy Sledge's hit single, "All of My Love". In 2007, she was a co-writer on Disney's top selling audio Halloween card "They Don't Scare Me".

In 2001, Annie Moscow stepped out as a solo artist with the release of her first CD, "Wolves at My Door" about the midlife shattering of illusions. The WASHINGTON POST wrote: "Annie Moscow is breaking all of the rules."

In 2007, she released her second CD, with “Visible.”

This summer she will be performing her first one-woman show of all original music, stories and poetry: "The Philosophical Musings of a Suburban Dwelling Free Spirit Ex-Hippi Wannabe with Longings for Connection and Security", at the Herberger Theater in Phoenix, Arizona.

You don't have to wait to see it at the Herberger. You can see it here in Casa Grande @ Your Library!

LAPSIT STORYTIME
Wednesday June 18th at 10:30am

Please join the youth librarian for 25 minutes of stories, songs, puppet shows, rhymes, and fingerplays. All children are welcome; however this program is generally suitable for ages 1 - 3. No registration is required but attendance is limited, so please be on time. Due to over-crowding at this specific program, a second Lapsit Storytime will be offered immediately after the 10:30 a.m. Storytime.

To make it a happy experience for everyone, please observe the following guidelines:
1. Young children tend to listen when they are secure in their parent's lap. If you cannot have your child in your lap, arrange to sit on the floor right next to him or her. Help your child to stay focused on the storyteller and participate in the songs and activities.
2. Please plan to arrive to Storytime a few minutes early. One and two year olds are easily distracted, and latecomers become the focus of attention. If you are more than 10 minutes late, you may not be allowed to enter the room due to distractions and/or over-crowding.
3. If you child becomes very restless, loud or uncooperative, please step outside the Storytime room. We want everyone to be able to hear and to concentrate on the Storytime program. Your child may be ready to come back in to Storytime after a few minutes.
The main goal is for everyone to have a good time. With your help, we can develop and nurture your toddler's love of books and the Library.
