Together, we made a difference in our community.

Together, we improved the quality of life for our citizens.

Together, we showed Casa Grande Cares.

 

 


Mayor's Recognition for Frito Lay Mayor's Recognition for Frito Lay

Frito Lay employees were chosen as the Corporate group to receive the Casa Grande Cares appreciation plaque on November 3. Their support and participation in the Smoke Detector Installation event and working with the Seeds of Hope to install the community garden made lives of many people safer and better. Hats off to this great group of people for all they did.


Mayor's Recognition for Meetup Group Mayor's Recognition for Meetup Group

Members of the Social and Meet-up Group of Casa Grande were the recipients of the private sector Casa Grande Cares service appreciation award for 2008. This group managed to undertake six projects that helped many people. A magazine/book drive for CG Regional Medical Center; handmade blankets CG Regional Medical Center; gathering school supplies/toiletries for Against Abuse; and putting together a Halloween Booth for city kids; a clothing drive for Against Abuse. Their response was an example of what people can accomplish when they work together.

Palm Park Neighborhood Events Palm Park Neighborhood Events

Palm Park neighborhood. These neighbors gathered together to post red ribbons in commemoration of Anti-crime week and to do other projects. A neighborhood clean-up and renumbering the curbsides by homes were well received. This neighborhood effort took three weekends in October.


Home of Hope Room Remodel Home of Hope Room Remodel

Home of Hope was able to remodel a room into a place of pride for residents with the help of caring women in the community. The bulk of the project took place on Saturday, October 25.


City Employees Donate Shoes City Employees Donate Shoes

On Tuesday, November 4, staff from the Pinal County Attorney Family Advocacy Program, came by City Hall and collected the hundred plus pairs of shoes & socks donated by City employees. Children of all ages served by the program will benefit and feel a little bit better about themselves walking out with a new pair of shoes. This event took place throughout the month of October, 2008.


Cox Cable Yard Cleanup Cox Cable Yard Cleanup

Yard clean-ups were much needed and the Cox Cable crew was involved in at least 3. The homeowner, center, was pleased to have all the help and the yard looked wonderful. The yards were done on Oct. 15 and one on Nov. 14. These guys did an awesome job!


APS Landscaping Makeover APS Landscaping Makeover

Two homes in Casa Grande received a landscaping makeover thanks to APS employees and family members. They were out in full force laying out gravel and planting trees much to the delight of the home owners. The homes looked great and is a source of pride for the owner. APS is always a great partner and they did an outstanding job with the Casa Grande Cares project. TeePee Sand and Gravel was also instrumental in providing the gravel for the project.

The two homes were landscaped on October 25.


City Wide Clean Up City Wide Clean Up

Citywide clean-up. This Casa Grande Cares event was held on October 25, the fourth Saturday in October as it has been for many years. APS was a corporate sponsor, bags, and the Dorothy Powell Senior Adult Center provided breakfast to the volunteers who donated their time to make the City of Casa Grande a cleaner place.


Smoke Detector Installation Smoke Detector Installation

Over 120 volunteers installed more than 700 smoke detectors in homes on the city's west side to celebrate Fire Safety Awareness Day and the beginning of National Fire Prevention Week. The effort was sponsored by Lowe's, the Casa Grande Fire Department, American Family Insurance, Foundation for Burns and Trauma, Casa Grande Cares, Quiznos, the Casa Grande Professional Firefighters Association, Apostolic Tabernacle, Olive Garden, Target, Frito-Lay, Fry's Food Store, Fry's Marketplace, Global Water, Wal-Mart, Rico Donuts, Food City, Safeway, Starbuck's Coffee and Moore's Golf Carts.

Smoke detectors were installed in 349 homes and other homes with detectors received new batteries (85). Event was held on October 4, 2008.


Boy Scouts Tree Planting Boy Scouts Tree Planting

Boy Scouts from BSA Troop 964 and Scout Master Keith Newman, City Planner, with a donation of 4 trees from APS, planted them at the Pinal County Attorney’s Family Advocacy Center in Eloy. Now there will be shade next summer! This project was done on Saturday, October 25, 2008.


Frito Lay Seeds of Hope Garden Frito Lay Seeds of Hope Garden

Frito Lay staff donated materials and labor to put in a requested community garden on French Street. This Saturday project is expected to help feed 60 families during peak growing season and help supplement food shortages. The Seeds of Hope recipients were very grateful and helped with the project. The monetary donation amounted to $225, but the value is priceless.


Youth Commission Shredding and Recycling Day Youth Commission Shredding and Recycling Day

The Casa Grande Youth Commission partnered with First American Bank and offered free document shredding to the public. Local businesses and residents brought bags and boxes of materials that were then shredded and recycled. The Youth Commission handled the shredding and recycling on October 25.


Tree Planting at City Hall Tree Planting at City Hall

As part of the city’s commitment to Tree City USA, a tree was planted on October 24 at City Hall. Students from Villago Middle School planted the tree.


Children's Garden Children's Garden

In honor of children that have been affected by domestic violence and other forms of abuse, the Victims’ Rights Office held its annual planting of the Children’s Garden on the front grounds of City Hall. Students from three elementary schools participated in this annual event on October 24.


Silent Witness Anti-crime Night Silent Witness Anti-crime Night

October 3, 2008 kicked off the Casa Grande Cares month with the annual Silent Witness/Anti-Crime Night held at Carr McNatt Park. This event hosts all public safety departments within Pinal County, including Casa Grande Police Department, Pinal County Sheriff’s Department, Department of Public Safety, and Casa Grande Fire Department. Many community service agencies are also represented all of which provide safety and life-saving information to our citizens. There is always a great turn out for this event and this year was no exception.
