Winter Celebration Events for Senior Adults
Winter Celebration Events are held January through March for all seniors in the Casa Grande area. These are sponsored by several community agencies such as the Chamber of Commerce, Central Arizona College, Fiesta Grande RV Resort, Casa Grande Main Street, Casa Grande Dispatch and the City of Casa Grande Community Services Department. 30th ANNUAL ARIZONA STATE OPEN CHILI CHAMPIONSHIP
Red Chili competition, at Ed Hooper Park (Pinal Ave. and Rodeo Rd.) hosted by the Greater Casa Grande Chamber of Commerce, Saturday, March 1. Chili-tasting cups go on sale at 11:00 am. Festivities include a classic car show, live entertainment, arts and crafts and vendor booths. Food booths benefit area non-profit organizations. Admission is FREE. ICE CREAM SOCIAL AND SENIOR EXPO
The Dorothy Powell Senior Adult Center along with the Casa Grande Police Department will be hosting an Ice Cream Social and Expo. The Pinal County Supervisors Office and the Pinal County Attorney’s Office along with other agencies will be on hand to provide a variety of resources from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Dorothy Powell Senior Adult Center. The Ice Cream Social will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at Peart Park with entertainment. This event will be taking place on Saturday, January 26.
6th ANNUAL “LIL” SWEETHEARTS FASHION SHOW
Join us on Tuesday, February 12 for the “Lil” Sweethearts of Casa Grande Fashion Show. Children ages 2-6 years old will be modeling clothes from various department stores. If you would like your child to participate please call Shayla at 421-8760, ext. 4420. This is a free event and too cute to miss! It will be held at the Dorothy Powell Senior Adult Center beginning at 10:30 am.
A SPRING FLING/DESSERT EXTRAVAGANZA STYLE SHOW
Casa Grande merchants will provide the fashions for this style show, with models from various local adult communities. Tickets will be available
at the Dorothy Powell Senior Adult Center, Fiesta Grande RV Resort, The Garnet and Val Vista Winter Village RV Resort. Tickets are
$7.50 per person. The style show will be held at The Garnet, 510 E. 8th Street, on February 21. For more information, contact Esther Findell at 426-9412.
SENIOR FAIR
The 33rd Annual Senior Fair and Bazaar co-sponsored by Central Arizona College, City of Casa Grande Parks and Recreation Department and Pinal-Gila Council for Senior Citizens/Area Agency on Aging – Region 5, will be held at Central Arizona College on Saturday, March 8 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. Bring the entire family for a festive and entertaining day. This year’s fair will include entertainment, handmade arts and crafts, baked goods, health screenings for senior adults and much more! SENIOR PROM
All senior adults and winter visitors are invited to attend the Senior Prom on Sunday, March 30 at the Dorothy Powell Senior Adult Center. The night will include dinner, music and dancing. You may also nominate your favorite couple
or yourselves to be chosen as the Cactus King and Queen of the Senior Prom. Registrations will take place at the event. One lucky couple will be chosen
from entries to reign over the prom and will receive the Grand Prize Package. Three other couples will also be drawn from the entries to receive prize packages. Entries will be drawn at random and winners must be present at the time of the drawing to claim their prize package. Entertainment will be provided. Tickets will go on sale beginning February 25. The price will be $10 per person in advance. Dinner at 5:30 pm and dance 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm. This event is sponsored by the City of Casa Grande Community Services Department and the Dorothy Powell Senior Adult Center.
