|Otter||7-12 years||Surfer||Feet first entry from the deck, will learn survival float, butterfly kick and continue to build endurance.|
|Seal||8-13 years||Otter||Will begin diving from side in stride position and swimming longer distances, will learn breaststroke, butterfly stroke.|
|Dolphin||9-15 years||Seal||Will learn surface dives and rescue breathing. Will continue diving from side in stride position and swimming longer distances.|
|Shark||10-15 years||Dolphin||Learn flip, turns and long shallow dive. Will learn surface dives and rescue breathing.|
Swim Team 5-18 yrs $45, each additional child $40 Tu-F, 6/2-7/24 7:00 – 8:00 am
Children ages 5 – 18 years old, who are proficient in the four basic strokes are eligible to participate on this recreational swim team. Practices will be held at Palm Island Family Aquatic Park on Tuesday through Friday mornings from 7:00 – 8:00 a.m. Swim meets will be held on Saturday mornings.
Jr. Lifeguarding 11-15 yrs $25 Tu-Th, 6/2-6/11 10:00 – 11:00 am
This is a volunteer program which provides participant’s with vital class experience covering many facets of day to day lifeguarding. This is not the certification required to be a lifeguard. Each child must be able to complete the following before attending this class: Swim the front crawl for 25 yards continuously, while breathing to the front or side. Tread water for one minute using arms and legs. Submerge and swim a distance of 10 feet under water.

Get in shape and cool off in this refreshing water exercise class this summer.This class is designed for those who would like a good cardio and conditioning workout with less stress on the knees, ankles and legs.
Water Polo 8 yrs + $25 Tu-Th, 7/14-7/23 10:00 – 11:00 am
Participants will work with the instructor on strokes, skills, and technique to play water polo. Skills may include and are not limited to, swimming distance using the front/back stroke, breaststroke, sidestroke, etc. treading water using various kicks learned in the Learn to Swim levels, while building endurance, breathing techniques and more. Basic rules and strategies of water polo will also be taught.
TriValley Swim Camp 8 yrs + $25 Tu-Fri, 7/28-7/31 5:30 – 7:00 pm
The Parks and Recreation and Casa Grande Union High School are teaming up to offer a camp for the competitive swimmer. The Cougar Swim Team and coaches will be on hand to emphasize the fundamentals of swimming with a focus on stroke development. The camp will include instruction and practice of stroke proficiency, resistance exercise, endurance training, and flexibility. The camp will conclude with a pizza party and awards.Camp space is limited and Pre-Registration is required.

Aqua Zumba is for anyone who loves the water and wants to bring the Zumba fitness party to the pool. Aqua Zumba is the most amazing total body workout that not only makes you feel incredible but also makes you look incredible! When working against the resistance in the water, Aqua Zumba really focuses on toning the muscles and burning the adipose tissue (fat) on the body. Some of the benefits of Aqua Zumba are being able to train without stressing the joints or the back, decreased insomnia, increased productivity and intellectual capacity, stabilized blood pressure, and increased endorphin production to name a few. Instruction will be done from the deck so that everyone will be able to see proper movements. See you in the water!
Palm Island Family Aquatics Park is available on select Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings for private rental to groups, businesses or non-profit agencies.
The private rental fee is $310-$360 and this covers the cost of staff and admission for a two-hour period. Local groups may reserve Palm Island Family Aquatics Park beginning May 1 by contacting the Parks and Recreation Department at least 14 days prior to date of use. Reservations cannot be made over the phone, rental forms and half of the rental fee must be submitted to the Parks and Recreation Department at the time of Reservation.
Garden of Sunshine Memorial
The Garden of Sunshine Memorial Garden is a project led by the Casa Grande Youth Commission. The name was chosen after a young man, Zack “Sunshine” Eide, along with his sister Katie, who were killed in a tragic crash during a massive dust storm in 2009.
